Prop 47 in the Spotlight again after teen Murder Arrest
Proposition 47 is being scrutinized by local law enforcement leaders after the arrest of Joseph Espinoza for the murder of 17-year old San Joaquin Memorial student Nick Kauls. Espinoza was in possession of Methamphetamine when he was cited at a local Motel hours before he murder Kauls. Espinoza would have been taken to jail on felony charges if it weren’t for Prop 47. Under current guidelines simple possession is a misdemeanor and not a felony, and Espinoza was free to allegedly go on a murderous rampage. How many more people will get hurt before something is done about terrible laws that hurt public safety such as Prop47?
